“Bernal impresses with debut album”
Jasmine Ray, from Moon Valley High School, in Phoenix, Arizona, wrote an article on Alyssa’s career. She talked about how Pharrell discovered her, compared her to some artists and reported that Alyssa can’t wait to tour in Europe. Check it out below or on the the Rocket Reporter site.
After a day full of school classes and cheer practice, Alyssa Bernal would go home and upload videos of herself singing acoustic song covers to YouTube, eventually to be discovered by multi-talented hip hop artist, Pharrell Williams.
Haven’t we heard this story enough from multiple different performers in the industry? Journey’s new front man, Arnel Pineda, Charice and Justin Bieber were all discovered in the same situation.
But whether it was over MySpace or YouTube, Bernal is deserving of whatever fame she gets.
If you’re searching for music with mediocre singing drowned out by a catchy dance beat, Bernal is not for you. An unexpected maturity and innocence is shown in her music which seems to be lacking in what we hear on the radio.
Her voice is similar to Demi Lovato’s but her music follows the style of Colbie Caillat.
Bernal was raised in San Antonio, TX with a drummer for a father, so music was in her blood.
“There are a lot of young singers out there who can carry a tune, but Alyssa is the real deal. She is a true musician with an incredible voice,” Williams said.
After being spotted out by Williams, he tried getting a hold of her but it was harder than he’d thought it would be. After receiving so many responses from her worldwide viewers, Bernal overlooked the superstar and he had to result in contacting her school but even that didn’t work.
She laughed at the memory, saying, “they didn’t know who Pharrell was! They just thought it was some shady guy trying to get a hold of me.”
On her future album, there are many collaborations with award-winning artists such as KT Tunstall, Pharrell and Jason Wade of Lighthouse whom she sings “Hold Me Tight” with.
The album will be titled In Love Again for the First Time. Bernal said that, “because it’s my first album, the songs are very naïve and personal. They are about long-distance love, missing home, and the tone is very easy-going.”
Currently available over iTunes is one single and her self titled EP. The EP contains her single “Cali, Cali, Cali”, “Hold Me Tight”, and “Easy.” Three breezy, feel-good songs that fittingly represent her talent.
After hearing these songs and the covers that got her discovered, I can easily say that I’d see myself buying her album when it becomes accessible in stores.
On her website, alyssabernal.com, she has a video of herself singing Bruno Mars’ newest hit “Grenade,” that will have you forgetting who originally sang it.
All of her cover songs are available to watch on YouTube under her username, hchsknights08.
“I’m really growing as a person and an artist,” says Alyssa. “I have a shy personality but when I’m performing., I calm down… I’m excited to tour and to interact with my fans. They’re always asking, ‘When are you going to come to London or Paris?’ and I can’t wait to do that for them,” Bernal said about her spot on Lifehouse’s Smoke & Mirrors tour.

New song: “Let Me Know”
Posted by Rossi • Filed under Videos
EDIT: Alyssa re-posted a new version of her video, so here it is.
Alyssa co-wrote a new original song with her friend, Richard Tran, called “Let Me Know”. It has a different vibe from her sunny “Cali, Cali, Cali”, but it definitely is amazing. I also updated the lyrics archive with this song, so you can now sing-along to it!
A new song about dudes who lead you on, and aren’t man enough to tell you the truth! Not going through this, before anyone asks, but I hope some of you can relate! lol. Hope you like it! Shoutout to Richard Tran for co-writin this tune with me. You’re the best! You can check him out at http://youtube.com/rtranmusic00

New pictures added
Not only did I add three old Twitter pictures, but I finally found a new picture of the last photoshoot. Alyssa looks looks absolutely perfect! I asked a lot of Twitter users where they found their pictures and none of them answered, so if you know, please tell me by messaging me on Twitter, @alyssabernalweb, writing in the shoutout below or emailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org. It’d help me a lot, because I want to reunite the most pictures in the same place for all Alyssa Bernal fans to view.
Also, I wanted to thank all the visitors who have been visiting the site and the gallery. I check out the site everyday, even if I don’t post news, and I’m very happy to see the hits go up. So thank you all! <3

“15 Aspiring Musicians Who Found Fame Through YouTube”
Posted by Rossi • Filed under News/Rumors
Alyssa was featured on the “15 Aspiring Musicians Who Found Fame Through YouTube” list at Mashable at #2 with her cover of I’m Yours by Jason Mraz! Number one was singer Avery, who is also very talented.
Alyssa Bernal’s acoustic uploads got the attention of Pharrell Williams who was reportedly so keen to track her down, he contacted her high school. Eventually he got hold of her and signed her to Star Trak. She has since released an EP.
Other singers on the list include Justin Bieber, Greyson Chance, Esmee Denters and Mia Rose.

One photoshoot and three personal pictures
As the title says, I added one absolutely gorgeous picture of Alyssa in the latest photoshoot, thanks to the awesome Alyssa Bernal Fans on Twitter. That set of pictures is definitely going to be featured in the next layout. I also will try to find more, but if you could donate some, I’d be forever grateful. I also uploaded three personal pictures taken on various sites and Twitters. Two of them are with friends and the last one is from her cheerleading years. She looks beautiful on each and every one of them.

“A YouTube sensation emerges as musical artist”
Nick Bussel, from FHN Today, wrote a nice article on Alyssa. He talks about her being an inspiration, her covers and how amazing she is. Check it out below or here.
Alyssa Bernal is one of the newest up-and-coming artists. Her fame started a few years ago when she began making YouTube videos of herself singing covers of other artists such as “Train” and “Lady Gaga.” Now, she has her own songs and her first album “In Love Again For The First Time,” whose songs reflect her life experiences.
I like her versatility because, even though not many artists try different techniques, she does. Currently, her style wavers between Pop and Country. Personally, I was intrigued by her when I first saw her on YouTube. She had a sweet voice and a really peppy personality. Her voice sounds good on video even without it being enhanced by a studio recording. Because her fame started on Youtube, I think she’s very inspirational.
Now that Alyssa Bernal has been discovered, I think that she has the potential to go far, and really please people with her music in the same way she has done for me.

“Alyssa Bernal: Discovered through YouTube?”
I just found a very touching article on Alyssa. It was written by Caroline Seche for Highlights. It definitely represents what many of us think of Alyssa: amazing and inspiring. Check it out!
I’ve reviewed other artists, but Alyssa Bernal is different. The others were kids just like Alyssa, who got lucky. They were discovered and now have released their first or maybe fiftieth CD, but Alyssa, what separates her from, Taylor Swift, is that she was discovered on YouTube. Imagine if suddenly, the girl behind the YouTube screen name has a record label; an album. You can always watch videos of artists like Lady Gaga or Eminem also on YouTube, but how many of those artists made a connection with their audience before they were signed?
Trust me here, check out her videos, and not only the professionally done ones, but the originals that got her all the way to releasing her first album. To watch someone singing to their webcam is a different experience than simply seeing them in concert or buying their CD’s; they’re closer to being real when they’re doing something so normal, that maybe you do too. When a person sits in their bathroom singing to their computer, it makes them seem more like they’re an average person-like the normal teen you are. In Alyssa Bernal’s videos she’s alive, and she’s shy and funny and friendly and most of the time has her friends lying on a couch behind her.
Now tell me, does not stardom seem like it’s that much closer when the girl you subscribed to on YouTube was discovered through it?
Bernal–she has a voice that really sings to you; in more than one way. She is one of those extraordinary artists who will never need the fancy costumes or revealing outfits or vocal modifications. She has done amazing on YouTube, so why should it change now?

Alyssa at the Popstar! offices
Those videos are from September 2010, but I wanted to show them here. In the first one, she talks about three things you didn’t know about her: being a cheerleader, snorting when she laughs and her love for horror movies. In the second, she offers an exclusive performance of Hey Love. Check them out!
